The work
We are looking for additional dancers to join our existing team, leading dance workshop days in primary schools from 4th to 8th March 2019. The work is well paid, and many dancers choose to continue to do occasional work during each school term. Applicants living a long way from London, particularly in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, are especially welcome.
The training will take place in London on Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st February and Friday 1st March 2019.
What we are looking for...
Trained, experienced dancers or choreographers (typically from a musical theatre background, though we welcome contemporary and other professional dancers).
An infectious passion and enthusiasm for dance, and for telling stories through movement.
Teaching experience, of dance or another discipline, ideally of primary school aged children. We will consider great candidates with no prior teaching experience in which case training will be provided.
Strong communicators who get on well with people.
Time keeping, planning and organisation skills - former dance captains would be perfect!
You must have professional credits (West End, No.1 Tour, TV or international equivalent) to be considered.
You must either have a recent enhanced DBS check dated after March 2016 or be happy for us to submit you for one. This must be clean (and not include any spent cautions or convictions for violent behaviour.)
Ideally you will be able to drive and have a clean-ish driving licence - but this is not necessary.
What you'll do!

On a typical day you will:
travel to a school which could be some distance from home - perhaps staying nearby the night before.
arrive at a school at 8.30am, start teaching at 9am and finish at 3.15pm. There is usually a 90 minute break for lunch.
deliver a morning assembly lasting around 25 minutes to the children and their teachers, demonstrating different types of dance and showing how dance can be used to tell stories (this is scripted!)
work with six classes in 40 minute sessions over the rest of the day, three in the morning and three in the afternoon. The children are aged from 4 to 11 years (Reception to Year 6 in England). You will be leading various games and teaching the children existing choreography to which you and they can have some input during the session.
perhaps complete the day with a 'show and tell', bringing everyone together again including teachers and parents.
You will deliver the workshops on your own so you need to be a confident and engaging representative of the company to the Head Teacher and other school staff.
All travel and accommodation expenses are covered and pay is on a good day rate.
